FINAL REPORT: Housing for Persons with Mental Illness - Understanding Their Experiences

Strengthening Families Together

The SSA Edmonton & Area Chapter is currently offering a program geared towards helping family members understand a diagnosis of schizophrenia within their family.

The Spring Sessions begin Monday, March 31, 2008. They continue for the next ten Mondays, with breaks for holidays or as agreed to by the participants.

Membership fees are now tax-deductable

Membership costs $20 for general members, $10 for consumers, and gives you member privileges with the Edmonton Chapter, the Schizophrenia Society of Alberta, and the Schizophrenia Society of Canada. We accept Visa, Mastercard, cash or cheque. Call Cathy at (780) 452-4661.

Are You Looking for Meaningful Work?

Prosper Place Clubhouse is a member-driven, restorative environment for people living with a mental illness. We are a work-oriented facility where members can learn new skills or contribute their existing talents in a variety of areas. We also offer opportunity for supported (paid) community employment.

Family Speakers Needed for "Speaking of Schizophrenia"

Fight the stigma by telling your story! Let people know how hard it is for families living with schizophrenia. Speakers receive honoraria for their important contribution to our mission. Click here for more information about the Speaking of Schizophrenia program.

If you have been declined the Disability Tax Credit, remember to APPEAL.

Unsung Heroes Schedule

Unsung Heroes is a support group for people with severe mental illness. We meet
Wednesdays 7 PM - 9 PM at #201, 10621 - 100 Ave (press the Schizophrenia Society intercom button on the outside of the building for entrance).

Coffee Night
We also meet on the first Wednesday of each month for Coffee Night at Numchok Wilai Thai Restaurant 10623 - 124 St.

Movie Night
We meet at 5074 - 130 Ave. at 6:30 every Friday. We pay for your movie admission to Movies 12 Theatre. You can go to whichever movie you want. Ask for Glen.
